The Journey to Light
After years of success in America, Samer felt an unshakable need to find new meaning beyond the landscapes of his youth. In 1999, he packed his brushes and canvases and traveled to Dharamkot, a village tucked in India’s Himalayan foothills. The mountains whispered to him a language he longed to understand—a delicate harmony of light, shadow, and silence. In this mystical environment, Samer’s brush moved differently. His art softened, with abstract forms blending into ethereal hues.
Samer’s Harvest Moon Serenade was born of those solitary nights by candlelight, each brushstroke a tribute to the harvest festivals of his childhood reimagined through Indian fog and moonlight. The painting marked a turning point—the beginning of a style marked by spiritual calm and color as meditation rather than mere visual observation. Local residents say his studio became a sanctuary where the outer world faded, replaced by the quiet pulse of breath and hue. This journey wasn’t just artistic; it was a personal transcendence that defined the rest of his life.
